Astro is a handsome 1 year old Redtick coonhound who is extremely well-proportioned and muscular. God only knows how this gentle coonhound was treated before in his young life, but Astro literally quivered with fear and hid whenever approached by a man. Despite his fear, he's always been nothing but gentle. He prefers children and women, but after 3 weeks in foster care is beginning to trust his foster dad and enjoys their walks around the neighborhood for some leash training and bonding time. He has shown to be a quick learner. Astro is cratetrained and feels very secure in the crate and has never had an accident here in the house. He's excellent with kids, as you can see in the photos. He's become far more affectionate in the short time he's been in his foster home and each day more of his personality blossoms. He enjoys an ear rub while on the leash and has been excellent with the other two dogs in his foster home, who enjoy chasing and wrestling him in the yard. His foster dad tells us, "If there ever was a dog who deserved a second chance with loving owners, it would be this gentle coonhound who has seen his share of neglect and abuse. A truly special dog."
