"But every now and then, the dragons come to call
Just when you least expect it you'll be dodgin' cannonballs
I've seen too much not to stay in touch
With a world full of love and luck
I've got a big suspicion 'bout ammunition
I never forget to duck
Come back, come back back to Jamaica
Don't chu know we made a big mistaica
We'd be so sad if you told us good-bye
And we promise not to shoot you out of the sky"
~ Jimmy Buffett
Clearly there was a mistake in Jamaica’s life when he found himself in a dry creek bed, lost and cold. We’ll never know the story that led to him being all alone and so mistrusting of people. He had been in the general area about 3 years according to neighbors and the postal worker. The current people living in the home heard about ABTCR and contacted the foster in CA. It took about a week to finally trap him in the pump house. We got him straight in for testing and neutering and found that he had 20+ foxtails embedded in his gums. He is now foxtail free and a very happy boy. He is learning to trust all the new people who come to visit at the doggie daycare, he even wags his tail when he sees the leash knowing that there will be a car ride. He has also started going to obedience class. He loves other dogs and is fine with cats. He is about 5 yrs old and weighs 48 lbs. Jamaica really wants to find a family that will give him all the love he’s lost out on in the past. Until then, he's getting lots of love and TLC in California.
