"What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind."
~ Eric Clapton
This big, beautifully marked, 2 year old Treeing Walker is the love of her foster family. She was picked up by Animal Control when her "owners" went on vacation and left her outside, with no food and water, to run on a busy street. When her owners returned, Animal Control called them to say they had their dog and they needed to pick her up. They were told "You can give her away or put her down, we don't care. She just keeps having puppies!" Luckily, the Director of the Animal Control recognized the fact that this dog was just too good to be "put down" and contacted Rescue.
Layla is now enjoying all the pleasures of being a housepet! Layla is completely house trained and has never had an accident in the house. She will sleep in a crate, if that is what you want her to do. However, she has full freedom in the house since she is totally trustworthy. She usually sleeps on the sofa or at the foot of her foster parents bed. She only barks to come in, go out or barks for joy when her foster parents come home. She is VERY loving, low maintenance and gets along well with all the other dogs in the household. It is unknown how she reacts to cats. She has a very calm nature and has never destroyed anything in her foster home. She has recently started to show an interest in playing! It seems this was something she was cheated out of in her puppy-hood but she is exploring all the things she missed out on before. Her foster parents are sure her loving heart fills up her nearly 70 pound body! This wonderful girl will make some person or family a loving, loyal, beloved companion for many years to come! She is waiting in Georgia.
