We were contacted by Bruce Gungle of Tucson, AZ, an enthusiastic owner of Black and Tan Coonhounds for over 12 years, who wanted to give something back to these great dogs. He ran a grueling race called the "Badwater 135 Ultramarathon" in July of 2006 and used this race to raise money for Rescue and the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection. This 135 mile race began in Death Valley and ended at Mt. Whitney. It's about the hottest place on Earth, with temperatures ranging from 120 to 130 F. Bruce finished the race in a total time of 41:26:23, finishing in 19th place.
Rescue would like to personally thank Bruce for putting his body on the line to help raise funds to protect the Sonoran Desert and to rescue Coonhounds! Job well done!
